Estepona<\/h2>\n

Estepona, originally a sleepy fishing and farming village, has grown into a thriving community and popular tourist destination west of San Pedro, near Casares and Manilva. Despite its popularity with tourists, it has managed to keep much of its native Spanish character and provides a more conventional vacation experience than its more glamorous neighbours further along the coast.<\/p>\n

Estepona is 33 kilometres west of Marbella and about an hour's drive from the Pablo Picasso International Airport in M\u00e1laga. The municipality of Estepona runs from the A7 junction of San Pedro and Benahavis at the Guadalmina river to the Sabanillas entrance.<\/p>\n

Estepona has something for everyone: a historic center, kilometres of golden-sand beaches, the Sierra Bermeja mountains, and some of the best-value places on the Costa del Sol for property ownership.<\/p>\n

Estepona dubbed the \"Garden of the Costa del Sol,\" has witnessed a transition in the last decade, evolving from a sleepy hamlet on the outskirts of Malaga province into a popular tourist and residential destination in its own right. The Junta de Andalucia proclaimed it a Tourism Municipality in 2020, with a population of 70,000 inhabitants.<\/p>\n

Estepona<\/strong>, in a privileged setting, captivates its visitors in every nook. Its refurbished old town, one of Andalusia's most beautiful, offers tourists the chance to enjoy a real urban garden,\u00a0\u201cThe Costa del Sol Garden\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Its labyrinth of white streets, adorned with picturesque flowerpots in bloom, give it the essence of a coastal Andalusian town. It conserves its customs and traditions in perfect, harmonious coexistence with its more modern, tourist appearance.<\/p>\n

Old Town of Estepona<\/h3>\n

If you go through the ancient neighbourhood, you'll encounter steep, cobblestone alleyways that transport you to a more real Spain. Enjoy a cup of coffee at the Plaza de las Flores in the heart of town while watching the world go by, or take a stroll along the winding streets to browse the many little stores and caf\u00e9s. For those interested in learning more about the history of Estepona, the Municipal Museum in the former bullring is a fun way to spend a couple of hours browsing the exhibits, which date back 100,000 years to the Palaeolithic age.<\/p>\n

Estepona's magnificent Orchidarium has over 4,000 different orchid species, making it Europe's largest.<\/p>\n

The Iglesia de los Remedios in Plaza San Francisco, which dates from the 13th century, the Clock Tower, and the ruins of the Castillo of San Luis are all worth seeing. The Exhibition and Congress Center, located on a tree-lined boulevard outside of town, holds a variety of events throughout the year, from its annual dog show to 'The Over 50's Show' and other special interest events.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Marina of Estepona<\/a>, with its 447 moorings, is the favourite of those seeking leisure and entertainment in the evening, especially when the summer months arrive. A walk through its interior is the perfect start before knowing at first hand some of the many bars, restaurants and nightclubs that are around.<\/p>\n

Other leisure centre of Estepona designed for the whole family is Selwo Aventura<\/strong>, a zoo that becomes a kind of safari jeep that runs alongside more than 2,000 animals of 200 different species. To enrich the visit, the route is through four different villages:\u00a0P\u00f3rtico de la Naturaleza<\/strong>\u00a0(Portico of Nature),\u00a0Ca\u00f1\u00f3n de las Aves<\/strong>\u00a0(Bird Canyon),\u00a0Ruta de los Valles<\/strong>\u00a0(Route of the Valleys) and the\u00a0El Poblado Central<\/strong> (Central Village). The Contact with animals and large playgrounds make Selwo Aventura, a favourite plan for the younger ones of the house.<\/p>\n

Surrounding areas<\/h3>\n

San Isidro Labrador's municipal park, known locally as Los Pedregales, is located at the foot of the Sierra Bermeja mountain and features a rural complex, camping, BBQ places, artificial lakes, and lovely woodland walks. Close to Estepona, the Escuela de Arte Ecuestre Costa del Sol is also worth a visit. The covered exercise ring, which seats 1200 people and combines instruction, entertainment, and culture in a unique setting, is a terrific venue to see events and horse competitions. On a nice day, Selwo Aventura, located on the A7 between San Pedro and Estepona, is a must-see sight for the youngsters. Visitors can observe over 2000 animals from over 200 species and enjoy a hands-on petting zoo and a 44-mile off-road safari adventure at this large outdoor wildlife park with over 100 hectares of open-air area.<\/p>\n

Coastline<\/h3>\n

Estepona's coastline spans for 21 kilometers and features some of the greatest beaches in the area, with huge lengths of sand, clear water, and excellent facilities. Visitors can relax in the sun or participate in a variety of activities such as children's play areas, pedalos, and beach volleyball on one of the 17 beaches available. Due to its easy accessibility and blue flag classification, La Rada is the largest and most popular beach in Estepona. If you're searching for somewhere a little more private, head west of Estepona harbor to the sheltered cove of Playa El Cristo. There are many chiringuitos along the coast, including Palm Beach and Blue Dolphin on the way to Estepona, as well as more upscale establishments like as Tikitano or the Laguna Village complex, which has numerous stores, restaurants, and the chic Puro Beach Club.<\/p>\n

Beachfront joy<\/h3>\n

Estepona boasts a wonderful promenade that is alive with activity at all hours of the day and night. Children's play areas, exercise equipment, monuments, fountains, rides, restaurants, and stores may all be found throughout the town's length. Estepona Marina is a popular spot for visitors to roam during the day and for party goers to drink and dance till the early hours of the morning in the many clubs and discos located just 5 minutes from the town center on the western end of the seashore. In the town center of Estepona, you'll find a variety of stores selling everyday necessities, groceries, and tourist souvenirs. Alternatively, for a more traditional shopping experience, go to the indoor market near the castle ruins, which opens every morning. Laguna Village, on the beach near San Pedro, features a decent range of high-end stores selling anything from designer clothing to home goods.<\/p>\n

Sports<\/h3>\n

Top golf clubs such as Estepona Golf, La Serena, Atalaya Golf, and El Paraiso, which was created by Gary Player, are among the many athletic facilities available in Estepona.
