What is Marbella located?
Marbella is situated between Fuengirola and Estepona on the Costa del Sol’s western coast. The resort is backed by the spectacular Sierra Blanca mountain range, whose highest point rises to 1,200 meters, and faces directly south onto the Mediterranean.
What’s it like to live in Marbella?
Marbella is the most well-known resort on the Costa del Sol, and it is regarded as one of the most opulent vacation spots in southern Europe. Marbella, which was discovered by the world’s jet-set in the 1960s, is synonymous with luxury and high-end experiences. Not surprisingly, some of Europe’s most costly real estate, as well as premier golf courses and some of the world’s top beach clubs, are all located here.
The resort spans along the shore for 27 kilometres. The following areas are covered in our Marbella Area Guide:
East of Marbella
Cabo Pino (a lovely marina), Las Chapas, Elviria, El Rosario, Los Monteros, and Ro Real are all prominent developments at Marbella’s eastern end. All are well-established, with easy access to Marbella’s centre and a variety of amenities such as stores, banks, and restaurants. On this side of Marbella, you’ll discover a number of great private institutions, including English International College and Colegio Alborán, as well as kilometres of sandy family-friendly beaches.
Nikki Beach, a world-famous beach club, as well as the 5-star Hotel Don Carlos and Hotel Los Monteros, are all located here. Marbella Golf and Country Club, as well as Santa Clara Golf, are two of the top golf courses in Marbella.
The Marbella City Centre
The historic Old Town of Marbella features a Moorish fortress, a network of small streets and alleyways, and several beautiful churches. The central Alameda park links the Old Town and the coastal promenade by the Avenida del Mar, which is decorated with Dali sculptures. The coastal promenade, which extends from the Bajadilla marina in the east to San Pedro in the west, is one of Marbella’s most popular destinations. You may walk the full length of the seashore and boardwalk, which is around 15 kilometres.
The west side of Marbella is bordered by beautiful tree-lined boulevards that are flanked by some of the greatest apartments in the city. With a large choice of shops, recreational facilities, health centres, banks, and restaurants, the amenities are outstanding.
Golden Mile/Marbella West
The most exclusive section of Marbella, known as the Golden Mile for its sequence of mansions and palace-like properties, is located to the west of the Piruli tower and the Corte Inglés store. There are also two of Marbella’s most well-known hotels, the Marbella Club and the Puente Romano, both 5-star GL and members of the Leading Hotels of the World. Dani Garcia, a three-Michelin-star chef, owns three restaurants along the Golden Mile: BIBO Dani Garcia, Lobito del Mar, and Lea Marbella.
The affluent developments of Sierra Blanca, famed for its breathtaking Mediterranean and mountain vistas, La Virginia, home to some of Marbella’s most beautiful townhouse residences, and the Buchinger fasting clinic are all located west of the city centre.
The Saudi Royal Family (whose design is modelled after the White House), Baroness Thyssen, Simon Cowell, and Lord Alan Sugar, as well as other football figures, all have residences in this region.
Puerto Banus, as one of Marbella’s most prominent tourist destinations, requires no introduction. This is a location to see and be seen, with a picturesque harbour where some of the world’s largest private yachts and boats are docked, a long list of luxury boutiques – all of the major designer and haute couture labels have storefronts in Puerto Bans – as well as many marina-front restaurants and bars. Celebrity spotting is at its peak during high season when it’s simple to spy a slew of celebrities dining and wining in Puerto Banus.
This is also one of the top spots in Marbella for nightlife. Ocean Club, Funky Buddha, and La Sala by the Sea, among others, are among the top beach clubs on the Costa del Sol. All of them provide both nightclubbing and daytime activities. Away from the shore, there are numerous nightclubs and taverns to choose from.
Nueva Andalusia is located to the west of Marbella and to the north of Puerto Banus. This popular development offers a diverse selection of villa and townhouse properties, some of which are located on the golf course. Many of the residences here have spectacular mountain and/or sea views.
Nueva Andalusia has a lot to offer, including a modest shopping centre called Centro Plaza (close to the bullring) that hosts one of the most popular Saturday markets on the Costa del Sol. Aloha College, one of Marbella’s most prestigious international schools, is located here.
This region of Marbella has superb sporting facilities. The area is known as Golf Valley, and it has five golf courses in and around Nueva Andalucia, including La Quinta and Las Brisas, which are among the best on the Costa del Sol. Here is also where the famed Manolo Santana Tennis Academy is located.
